Pinecone Mugolio

Fermented Pinecone Honey

Wildcrafted Forest Magic in Every Spoonful

There is something extraordinary about capturing the essence of the forest in a jar.

Mugolio is a traditional European preparation made by slowly extracting the aromatic compounds, resins, and flavors of young green pinecones. My version uses honey, allowing the pinecones to slowly infuse their distinctive evergreen character into a rich, fragrant syrup.

As the honey draws moisture from the pinecones, it becomes thinner and develops layers of flavor. Natural fermentation may occur, adding further complexity to this beautiful forest preparation.

The result is a delicious combination of sweet honey, fresh evergreen, citrusy pine notes, and subtle resinous depth.

Traditional Uses & Benefits

🌲 Respiratory Comfort: Pine has a long history in traditional herbalism for supporting respiratory wellness. Its aromatic compounds have traditionally been valued during seasonal congestion and coughs.

🍯 Throat Soothing: Honey naturally coats and soothes an irritated throat, making this a comforting addition to your seasonal herbal apothecary.

🌿 Antioxidant Compounds: Pinecones contain plant polyphenols and other naturally occurring compounds valued for their antioxidant activity.

✨ Digestive Support: Traditionally, small amounts of aromatic pine preparations have been enjoyed after meals to encourage digestive comfort.

🌲 Energetic Properties: Pine symbolizes longevity, resilience, purification, protection, and renewal. Evergreen trees retain their vitality through the coldest months, making pine a beautiful symbol of endurance and strength.

How to Enjoy

Enjoy a small spoonful on its own, stir into warm tea, drizzle over pancakes or yogurt, add to sparkling water for a forest-inspired soda, or use it to create unique culinary glazes and sauces.

The flavor is especially beautiful paired with citrus, ginger, cinnamon, and warming spices.

Ingredients: Honey and young green pinecones.

Handcrafted in small batches using traditional slow-extraction methods.

🐝 Medicinal raw honey infusions can be added to any warm beverage, such as tea, ceremonial cacao, warm lemon water, drinking vinegar, or any healing beverage you can think of.

🐝 To keep your honey’s healing potential, do not cook or add it to boiling beverages. My rule of thumb is, if it’s cool enough to drink, it’s safe to add your honey.

🐝 What a great way to kick a cough or soothe a sore throat!

🐝 But don’t feel you need to limit yourself with drinks, these fresh, small batch, infusions can be drizzled over roasted veggies, hot cereals, whole grain toast and more. Just make sure to not cook after adding your honey.

🐝 I use the highest quality raw organic honey.

🐝 Each batch is hand crafted and allowed to infuse at room temp for several weeks. I never rush or heat my honey. It’s worth the wait to do things right.

🐝 Medicinal honey is great for skin issues - acne, scars and fungal infections. Just add a dab from the dropper to any area of concern.
